Waterfront Trail System

Whether you enjoy biking, rollerblading, running or walking, the waterfront trail system is perfect for you. Running through the southern Durham Region including Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa, the trail system has paved paths, lookouts and shaded gazebos for relaxing. Take in picturesque views while you walk and hit the trail.

 

Durham Forest

The Durham Regional Forest Main Tract is located just outside of Uxbridge and is accessible off  both Lakeridge Road and Concession 7. This lush hiking trail features over 16 kilometres of forested walking paths and boasts a section of single and double track trails for mountain bikers.

 

Heber Down Conservation Area

You can experience a trail system, creek and watershed area, picnicking and more within a short drive from Whitby. Located just off Country Lane in Whitby’s northern boundaries, Heber Down is a great place explore. Take your dog for a nature walk or simply stroll through the 5km of trails and take in the scenic view. Photographers, get your cameras ready to capture the beauty of this area.

 

Seaton Trail

Located in the north Pickering, Seaton Trail is home to a lot of history dating back to the pioneer days. The hiking trail spans 12.9 km from 3rd Concession near Brock Road northwest to Highway 7 at Green River and is largely maintained by a volunteer group.

 

Oakridges Moraine

Capping off the Durham Region, the Oakridges Moraine Trail System is an expansive trail system that runs right across the top boundaries of Durham Region, Clarington and beyond. With over 300 km of trails in varying difficulties, you won’t be able to do this all in one shot but we challenge you to explore bits and pieces of its beauty throughout your time in the Durham Region.
